1066 Cortez Road Crash Photos

Below in this album is a collection of photos from a violent crash that ended with one dead and another seriously injured at the start of a long holiday weekend for many on July 03, 2008. Station 29 was dispatched at approximately 9:00pm for a reported 1 car MVA, vehicle vs. house with ejection at 1066 Cortez Road. Additional reports from the scene reported 1 ejected and 1 entrapped bringing in Rescue 68 as an additional rescue company. Rescue 29 arrived on scene and Assistant Chief Jamie Wallace assumed the Cortez Road command. Crews were faced with a car vs tree, 1 patient still in the vehicle and 1 ejected. Crews immediately went to work stabilizing the vehicle, controlling hazards and assisting EMS with the ejected victim. Crews gained access into the vehicle utilizing HRT system allowing EMS personnel to reach the victim. Rescue crews remained on scene throughout the investigation assisting with lighting, traffic & hazard control. Units remained on scene for nearly 4 hours.
